So I was just poking through some old drafts, and came across this photo dump from 2 years ago for a review I never wrote. What’s ironic now is FCA’s decision to let the 200 die. Kinda like they’re shaking off the 200. Hmmph.

I’m quite a fan of the 200 looks wise. I’ve never been in one though. IMO it’s second place to the Optima in the styling department. Shame they’re axing it.

Chrysler 200- the car that says, “I’ll get around to this one day”

I’m a huge fan of the interior on these in the upper trims. Really well-done. They were so close to getting the car right. So very close.

I would also like to point out that the only Fiat-sourced cars doing well are the Renegade and the Cherokee. The 200 and the Dart are flops. The 500/L/X aren’t doing too hot, either. It remains to be seen how well the Pacifica fairs. The only non-Jeeps bringing home the bacon right now are the Ram trucks and the ancient LC-platform cars. Maybe the Durango.

It seems odd to me that with how little this looks like a Dart that they would carry over one of the interior styling features that they made such a big deal over in the Dodge.

Everywhere I look (air vents, gauges and surround, center stacks, door cards, and even steering wheels), they’ve done a very thorough job of differentiating the two cars. And yet they carried over that weird “My touchscreen is in the same panel as my instrument cluster” thing that Dodge highlighted with a glowing red ring to echo the racetrack tail lights. That’s such an odd choice.

I like how they have to label “speedometer” and “tachometer”. Seems to shows the intelligence of the average 200 buyer. Worse yet, they look like some sort of caricaturized version of what people in the ‘50s thought gauges would look like in 2016. Too many blobby shapes, and the purple lighting does not help. The Optima’s crisp and clear design is light years better, and it’s pretty damned simple.

Just about every single FCA product since the Dart came out has the touch screen and the control panel below it for the hvac controls. It's a really intuitive set up so why not.

What's Amazon is the old Mercedes based cars (Charger, Challenger, 300, Grand Cherokee, and Durango) are easily their most reliable and best driving vehicles. It's like cars made by two different companies if you compare one of those products to a Fiat designed product. The one oddball is the Ram trucks because they are one of the few vehicles completely designed between Daimler and Fiat.

The 500 was fine when it was new, but it's in desperate need for an update.

Just about everything that isn’t a Jeep of some flavor has desperately needed an update for the last four to five years.

That has nothing to do with what I pointed out.

Considering some of the hideous designs Chryco has put out there over the years, this is pretty nice IMHO. It's just that they just don't do bland as well as Toyota, so it withered on the vine.

The rear seat of the 200 is not competitive in the US market. Visibility is also poor.

Everything else about the car was fine, and even great in some areas.
